San Marco Square Refresh 2023

The SMPS is partnering with the City of Jacksonville, Councilman Joe Carlucci, and Liberty Landscape Supply to give the landscaping in San Marco Square a refresh! These new plantings are part of a larger collaborative project giving the Square a polished facelift.

This refresh project will include new plant material, irrigation repairs, a fresh coat of paint on the gazebo (thanks to Hospitality Improvements Inc.), erosion control, new trash cans, tree lighting, as well as maintenance updates to both fountains. The long, linear fountain in front of the gazebo will be receiving both functional repairs and a beautiful exterior update thanks to the Tile Market of San Marco. Through the month of November, you’ll see landscaping work being done, expected to be completed by Thanksgiving. The plans for replacement of old plant material and installation of new plantings were carefully considered by the SMPS, COJ, San Marco Garden Circle, San Marco Merchants Association, Liberty Landscape Supply, and several other local experts.

The additional work on the fountain enhancements and gazebo paint will begin in January to avoid interfering with events in the Square during the holiday season.

One of the many reasons San Marco is such a wonderful place is because we are fortunate to benefit from the advocacy efforts of our neighborhood organizations. The SMPS works hard to create, maintain, and enhance our community. We appreciate your patience as these improvements are made, and are just as excited as you to see the gorgeous end results!

If you have questions about the improvements, please contact the SMPS or Councilman Carlucci’s office.
