Title Sponsor: San Marco’s Centennial
Announcing the San Marco Centennial Title Sponsor: lifelong San Marco resident, the Hon. Matt Carlucci, Sr. The SMPS is incredibly grateful to Matt and his wife, Karen, for their ongoing support of San Marco and this organization over the decades.
A Centennial celebration would not be the same without them! On behalf of the SMPS Board of Directors and David Paulk, our board president, thank you to Karen and Councilman Carlucci!
Thank You, Clean-Up Volunteers!
A big THANK YOU to the 30 volunteers who spent their Saturday morning cleaning and helping to preserve the St. John’s River at River Oaks Park last month! Your efforts and participation help us to keep our neighborhood a clean and safe place for everyone to enjoy.
This group even used paddleboards to help clean up debris from the banks of the waterway. If you missed this River Oaks cleanup, we would love to have you out next time! Be on the lookout for quarterly cleanups.
San Marco’s Architectural History
The San Marco Preservation Society and San Marco Centennial Committee invite you to attend “San Marco’s Architectural History,” a presentation by Dr. Wayne Wood. This lecture will be held on Thursday, May 8 at Aspire Church at 7:00 p.m.
Dr. Wood will be discussing the architectural styles that have influenced San Marco over the last century, highlighting features, buildings, and stories that have made San Marco the wonderful community it is. Attendance at this event is eligible for self-reporting as an LU credit for the American Institute of Architects’ Continuing Education requirement.
Dr. Wood is well known for his award-winning publication, “Jacksonville’s Architectural Heritage: Landmarks for the Future.” The Florida Times-Union named him “Jacksonville’s Best Visionary” in 2017, and Folio Weekly called him “The Most Interesting Man in Jacksonville.”
